JULY SUMMER SAFETY

An update from

The Walkway is a bridge without shade, and in the heat of summer, it’s important to take extra precautions before enjoying your day with us. Please make sure to hydrate and bring extra water along with you. We also recommend guests bring a hat or parasol and some sunblock to mitigate the effects of the summer sun.

And don’t forget about Fido! We love pets on the Walkway, but want them to be safe. The bridge deck is much hotter than the air temperature and will burn tender paws. Place your hand on the surface prior to your walk. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet. If you’re unsure if the deck might be too hot, leave your pet at home.

Following these simple tips will help keep you and your pets safe and happy. If you come prepared, summer days at the Walkway are a true pleasure. Enjoy!

In the Hudson Valley, I love…visiting all of our great historical sites.

My most treasured Walkway memory is…all of the fun I have with my colleagues while setting up for community events. For me, it is the time spent with good people that makes memo
