Ruge’s Automotive Pays Balance of Rhinebeck Central School District School Lunches

Rhinebeck, New York…Ruge’s Automotive delivered a check to Rhinebeck Central Schools this week for $900, the collective amount due on meal balances district-wide for students eligible for the Free and Reduced School Meals Program during the 2018-2019 school year. According to the Rhinebeck Central School District website, the program is available to students living in households receiving benefits from SNAP, the Food Distribution Program on reservations or TANF, and those whose household’s gross income meets Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines. The philanthropic work of Ruge’s has resulted in support of many area benefactors over the years, including Northern Dutchess Hospital, American Legion Post 429, Rhinebeck Rotary, and many others – and now families from the Rhinebeck Central School District who are in financial need. Included among the Ruge’s set of guiding principles is: “The importance of paying it forward through sponsorships and donations to initiatives that enhance quality of life for people throughout our region and beyond.”

Said Joseph Phelan, Superintendent, Rhinebeck Central School District: “On behalf of our financially challenged families, we are deeply appreciative of this generous donation from Ruge’s Automotive to defray the outstanding 2018-19 lunch charges for those families who qualified this year for the US Free and Reduced Price lunch program for their children and who can truly benefit from the financial relief.”

“They say ‘it takes a village,’ and you see people doing good things all the time in this community. This is just one example of why I’m so proud to live here and to work as part of the Ruge’s team. It’s a community – and Ruge’s is a company – that really believes in paying it forward; it’s very rewarding to be part of that,” said Joe Monaco, Director of Sales and Marketing at Ruge’s Automotive.

“Noone should have to worry about how to come up with funds to make sure their children are well-nourished when they’re trying to get the most out of their school day. We want to give our local students the best shot at every opportunity ahead of them; this is one small way we can help support a bright future for these kids,” said Kristin Ruge Hutchins, President at Ruge’s Automotive.
