Rhinebeck hospital’s 20th annual gala honors 2 longtime local physicians
With about 400 attendees, the 20th annual Starlight Ball raised about $100,000 to support the hospital’s mission to provide the best possible care for patients and their families.
An orthopedic surgeon, Tigges is on the hospital medical staff and is a physician with Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County. Originally from Iowa, he moved to the Hudson Valley in 1997 and specializes in hip and knee replacements.
“A gifted and skilled surgeon, Tigges has helped transform Northern Dutchess to a destination hospital,” said Dr. Michael Moses, an anesthesiologist on the medical staff and co-chair of the ball. “His compassion, empathy and sense of humor are demonstrated by the thousands of patients who have chosen Dr. Tigges as their surgeon.”
Zunich has a private practice in Rhinebeck in internal medicine and cares for long-term nursing residents and rehabilitation patients at the Northern Dutchess Residential Health Care Facility, known as The Thompson House. He was born in Manhattan, studied at Yale University, trained at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and launched his solo practice after his residency training.
Starlight Ball Co-Chair Dr. James Wing said, “For 32 years, the northern Dutchess area has been blessed with the kindness, compassion and excellent care given by Dr. Zunich.”
“It’s a privilege and honor to be considered someone’s physician and sometimes their friend,” Zunich said. “I will always be grateful for their trust.
