Scrumptious Taste of Rhinebeck raises nearly $26,000 for hospital

Rhinebeck – Northern Dutchess Hospital received about $26,000 from the 20th annual Taste of Rhinebeck, a culinary festival and competition that drew hundreds to the village center and showcased the creative talents of the local food scene.

 

On Tuesday, April 30, nearly two dozen walkable locations offered samples of small plates, desserts and beverages. Attracting about 450 people, votes were cast on what was the most palate-pleasing.  The crowd favorites included a cookie dough Oreo sandwich from Samuel’s Sweets Shop called Simply Doughlicious, Le Petit Bistro’s crunchy fried oysters and Gose the Imposa served at The Kroeg, among others.

 

“Taste was founded 20 years ago by our board member, Kristin Hutchins, as a great community event and fundraiser for local healthcare. The event has grown and been a tremendous success year after year,” said Dawn Morrison, executive director of the NDH Foundation. “We’re so grateful for the vendors, volunteers and everyone who supports us.”

Taste has two judging categories. Here are this year’s winners:

Appetizer:  Le Petit Bistro, crunchy fried oysters

Main Course:  Gigi Trattoria, skizza sampling

Slider/Sandwich:  Buns, original burger

Beverage:  The Kroeg, Gose the Imposa (Hudson Ale Works)

Dessert:  Samuel’s Sweet Shop, Simply Doughlicious
