Saugerties, NY…..Opus 40, an earthwork sculpture park located in Saugerties, NY, has announced its 2019 season of events. The season kicks off on May 5 as Kevin Zraly leads a wine-tasting class at the nearby Diamond Mills Hotel and will continue through Labor Day weekend with frequent events at Opus 40.

Says Caroline Crumpacker, new executive director at Opus 40, “Our 2019 season is a celebration of the natural and artistic bounty of the Hudson Valley. We have a multi-faceted roster of events designed to bring art, music, poetry, theater, and creative performances to locals and tourists who will love our unique backdrop of sculpture, trails, and beautiful scenery.” Crumpacker worked with Editor/Archivist and founding staff member Tad Richards to curate the season.

The 2019 Season includes guitar virtuoso Gil Gutiérrez as well as popular local performers Max’s New Hat, Roberto Juan Rodriguez and Miss Maybell. The Gallery features all local artists: Kenji Fujita, China Jorrin, Faheem Haider and Kahn & Selznick as well as a Saugerties Art Tour showcase. Scheduled performances include Dzieci Theatre, a special staging of Jesus Christ Superstar adapted to Opus 40’s site, and more. There will also be Community Days where locals are admitted free of charge. Food Trucks including Farmers & Chefs, The Green Palatte, and Grille Stove Food Truck will also be on site for events.

“We are really excited about this season’s lineup, and look forward to welcoming people from all walks of life to our special venue. There’s no better place to honor our area’s rich history and stunning views than Opus 40. Harvey Fite connected his artistic vision with the history of local quarrying and the beautiful Catskill Mountains visible from our site. It’s an honor to carry out his vision with everything from nature walks to poetry workshops to old-time music to farm-to-table food and locally brewed beer.”
