Rhinebeck Rotary to Honor Women of Rhinebeck at May 13th Awards Dinner

 

On Monday, May 13th, the Rhinebeck Rotary Club will hold its annual Service Above Self Awards and Recognition Dinner at 6:00pm at the Welcome Center at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck. This year’s theme is “Women of Rhinebeck” and honorees will include Marybeth Cale, Jennifer Hammoud, and Elizabeth Mazzarella as Citizens of the Year. The club will also give Spirit of Service Lifetime Achievement Awards honoring two Rotary Club members lost in 2018, David Albahary and Gary McDonald, as well as Paul Harris Awards to Rotarians Carolyn Bernitt, Gail Saucier, and Jeff Scales. James Chapman of Rhinecliff Event Catering will cater the event. 

 

Marybeth Cale has served the region in a variety of leadership roles, including: trustee of the Anderson Foundation for Autism, trustee of the Winnakee Land Trust, trustee for The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, PR chair for the Rhinebeck Rotary Club, advisor to the Rhinebeck Interact Club, trustee for the Rhinebeck Community Scholarship Fund, volunteer publicist for LUNAFEST, Vice President of the Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce, and board member for the Center for Spectrum Services Foundation. She has been the recipient of the “Top 40 Under 40” award and the “Service Above Self” award from the Wappingers Falls Rotary Club. 

 

Jennifer Hammoud was one of the founding members of theRhinebeck Science Foundation and has served as its President since the Foundation’s inception in 2007. In that context, she worked withthe Rhinebeck Central School District and the community to implement and facilitate innovative, hands-on teaching methods involving science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math to create a lasting impact on students and schools. In addition, Jen has been an active volunteer for the Rhinebeck Parent Teacher Student Organization, Sinterklaas, the Starr Library, and Porchfest.

 

Elizabeth Mazzarella brought Porchfest  a celebration of community through music performed on Rhinebeck’s historic porches  to Rhinebeck in 2016. Liz has produced Porchfest every year since, managing a large volunteer staff and many talented musicians, and, in the process, raising considerable funds for the Rhinebeck Community Park. Liz has also served as a volunteer for the Winnakee Land Trust, Sinterklaas, and The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck. She has participated in international service trips to Thailand, where she worked at a local hospital and a local school, and to Africa where she worked at an HIV orphanage.

 

Tickets to the dinner are $85 individually and $850 for a reserved table of 10.
