Midwife joins Health Quest OB/GYN practice in Rhinebeck and Kingston
RHINEBECK — Whitney Hall, a certified midwife, recently joined Health Quest Medical Practice’s OB/GYN practice with privileges at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Hall sees patients in the OB/GYN offices on the hospital’s Springbrook Avenue campus and in the Kingston Plaza. She offers gynecological exams, contraceptive counseling, pre-conception education, maternity care and menopausal management. A certified lactation counselor and childbirth educator, she is part of the delivery care team at the Neugarten Family Birth Center.
“I love this field because I love discussing women’s health choices and facilitating women’s plans for the management of their bodies,” said the Hurley resident. “I love teaching teens about their bodies, as well as ushering childbearing women through their choices and menopausal women through theirs. The successful birth is one where the new mother feels empowered by this transformational experience.”
Most recently, she was with the Kingston-based private practice Hudson Valley Midwifery. She began her midwifery education in 1990 as an apprentice doing home births in Santa Barbara, Calif. She held student internships in standalone birth centers at the Tennessee Birth Place in Nashville and at Casa de Nacimiento in El Paso, Texas.
In 2003, she graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn with a master’s degree in midwifery. She has been working in women’s health in New York City and the Hudson Valley ever since.
