Rhinebeck, New York….Volunteers behind Sinterklaas Hudson Valley announced today that the 9th “Love It or Swap It” Women’s Clothing Swap and Sale to benefit Sinterklaas will be held on Sunday, October 14 from 12 – 4 pm at the Fellowship Hall of the Rhinebeck Methodist Church, located at 83 East Market Street in Rhinebeck. Among other activities, the event will provide guests with a chance to swap their items and then choose from a wide selection of donated women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, handbags, and shoes for the purpose of raising funds for Sinterklaas. A donation of $25 is requested to participate.
Clothing and goods can be dropped off on Sat. Oct. 13 between 11 and 2 pm, or participants can bring donations to the SWAP event on Sun. Oct 14.
“Not only is this a great way to be sure your favorite apparel and accessories are recycled, but the funds raised really help us make Sinterklaas a success,” said Jill Lundquist, volunteer.
Lindy Wright, one of a host of volunteers with Lundquist, added, “Bring clothes on hangers in good condition to swap – a maximum of 20 items – and go home with an equal number of treasures! It’s so much fun; people really look forward to this fundraiser each year!”
“Love It or Swap It really is a great way to sort through your closet and add a little spice to your wardrobe while supporting Sinterklaas, which brings such joy to our community,” said Lundquist.
A donation of $25 is requested to participate. Other components of the experience include SinterStore, which offers premium merchandise and gift certificates at bargain prices. Brands represented include but are not limited to Eileen Fisher, Hammertown, Distinctly Himalayan, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birchtree, Armadillo, and Boitson’s. New this year will also be a “Cashmere Corner.”
There will also be a raffle for a Marc Jacobs “Little Big Shot” leather tote bag, valued at $370; drawing will take place on Oct 14th at 4pm at the Swap. Raffle tickets cost $10 each or 5 for $40; proceeds benefit Sinterklaas. In addition, there will be mini facial makeovers by artists from Face Stockholm and Tarot Card readings by soul-coach, poet, author, theater director, performer, and book editor Cait Johnson (free of charge).
