Dancing into Spring like…
Pulitzer- and Tony Award–winning playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner’s Angels in Americaopens this weekend—its first return to Broadway in 25 years. Next month, Kushner will reflect on his relationship to the music of Leonard Bernstein, including his current work with Steven Spielberg on a film remake of Bernstein’s West Side Story.

Bessie Award–winning choreographer Abby Zbikowski’s abandoned playground combines elements of hip-hop, tap, West African, and postmodern dance styles in this sport-meets-dance piece. Invigorating and deeply physical, the dance emphasizes connection, communication, and strength, bringing dynamic energy to the stage.
Fisher Center Artistic Director of Dance and Theater Gideon Lester reflects on his recent observations of Pam Tanowitz Dance rehearsing its newly commissioned work for Bard SummerScape. Lester connects the dance to T. S. Eliot’s work in his latest journal entry, Strange Harmonies.
