On Monday, October 23rd, at 5:30 pm, at the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck, the Rhinebeck Rotary Club will launch its newest initiative, “Cocktails for Charity.”
The creation of this year’s club president, Kiki Steele, the initiative is designed to spotlight one of our community’s pre-eminent not-for-profit organizations and raise dollars for its support.
Normally, the Rhinebeck Rotary Club meets for lunch at 12:15 pm every Monday at the Beekman Arms but selected meetings are held later in the day and center around camaraderie, conversation, and cocktails.
President Steele proposed using these selected meetings as a means to raise awareness among members and guests of the needs being addressed by a variety of community groups and offer those groups the opportunity to tell their stories and raise funds.
The inaugural “Cocktails for Charity” event will showcase the River Haven Runaway and Homeless Shelter and River Haven’s executive director, Christa Hines, will address club members and guests.
Community residents are encouraged to attend to hear Ms. Hines and to become acquainted with the work of River Haven. Attendees are also invited to become acquainted with the work of the Rhinebeck Rotary Club and, if interested, become members.
A donation of $15 per attendee is suggested and all donations will go directly to River Haven. Attendees will be treated to hors d’oeuvres and one complimentary cocktail, courtesy of the Rhinebeck Rotary Club.
