Health Quest’s Get Fit challenge is back Sept. 9 with new prizes, more locations
Dozens more locations, new prizes and weekly workout plans are in store for the fall Get Fit challenge, hosted by Health Quest, a healthcare network in the mid-Hudson Valley and Litchfield County, Conn.
From Saturday, Sept. 9, to Saturday, Oct. 21, Health Quest challenges the community to exercise and keep track of their sessions at GetFitHV.com.
New this season:
– Get Fit competitors can exercise at the place of their choice if they complete the Workout of the Week, which will be posted at getfithv.com.
– Select Planet Fitness locations, the Appalachian Trail, the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, City of Kingston parks, the Dutchess County Classic and more are part of the more than 125 sites where exercise can be logged for the chance to win prizes.
– Trekz Titanium headphones, Fleet Feet gift cards as well as Hello Fresh and Green Blender subscriptions are new prizes, while the Apple Watch series 2 is one of the grand prizes.
“All you need is a good pair of sneakers to take the Get Fit challenge,” said M. Zubair Jafar, a physician who leads the sports cardiology program for The Heart Center,a division of Hudson Valley Cardiovascular Practice, PC. “Walking for just 30 minutes a day can significantly impact heart health and lower risk of chronic disease.”
To encourage exploration of the area’s “gyms with a view,” Health Quest invites the public to attend a Get Fit kickoff hike and T-shirt giveaway at 10:30 a.m.,Saturday, Sept. 9, at the following locations: Breakneck Ridge, Beacon; Nuclear Lake, Pawling; The Harlem Valley Rail Trail, Millerton; Black Creek Preserve, Esopus; and The Putnam County Trailway, Carmel.
