I just wanted to share a comment, expressing my appreciation for the way in which the local police worked with the large crowd of people who came out Sunday night to show their concern about the events in Charlottesville, VA.
The size of the crowd–which was pretty large–and the limits of the sidewalk at Market Street caused people to fill up parts of the Foster parking lot and climb on the planters that line the sidewalk.
As a few people stood up to speak, two officers on duty approached me to ask how they could move the crowd to a better spot–out of the parking lot and off the fragile flower boxes.
Those two officers were patient, respectful and ultimately very effective in the performance of the duties.
It was a great display of good police work.
