Rhinebeck Village Informational Notice Issued Monday, July 17, 2017
Trustee John Rossi
Mayor Gary Bassett selected John Rossi to fill the open Trustee seat, vacated by Village Trustee Scott Cruikshank in May. Trustee Rossi was sworn in on July 14, 2017.
John earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and his master’s degree from NYU. John works as a telecommunications consultant primarily assisting clients in matters of regulatory compliance.
John and his wife May, a registered nurse, relocated to the Village from Long Island in 2016. The couple have three adult children.
Though new to the Village of Rhinebeck John has a fairly extensive background in public service and community activism.
John was elected twice to the Board of Education in Long Island, serving a total of 6 years (2004-2016). Then, in 2012, when Superstorm Sandy ravaged the south shore of Long Island, John took an active role in helping the community get back on its feet. Lido Beach Towers, one of the largest multi-family condominiums in Long Island sustained well over $15 million in damages. John was elected to serve on the Condominium Board, charged with reconstruction and restoration of the damaged building. In that role, he became the primary liaison working with Albany in securing federal funds, which contributed to the successful restoration of the building.
Mayor Bassett says his expertise and years of experience in public service, will be a valuable addition to the Village Board.
“I am honored and feel privileged to have been provided this opportunity by Mayor Bassett. I am anxious to be part of the team and look forward to contributing,” stated John upon his appointment.
