Colton’s XXXtraordinarY Cause Sets the Stage for Hudson Valley Event Designed to Raise Funds and Awareness for Children Impacted by Rare Disorders
Rhinebeck, New York… Thanks to local mom and founder Michelle Hutchinson, Colton’s XXXtraordinarY Cause has announced plans to host “A Rare Affair” on Saturday September 23rd at Globe Hill at Ronnybrook Farm in Pine Plains. The organization, created as a result of Hutchinson’s personal experience raising a son with 48XXXY, is a local organization that raises awareness and funds for children and families impacted by this and other rare syndromes.
“We are so excited about this event and hope that it will address a need for greater awareness around the topic of chromosomal variations. While Colton’s condition occurs in only 1 out of every 50,000 births, research suggests that X & Y Variations are occurring as frequently as 1 out of every 500 births. In 7 out of 10 cases, these conditions go undiagnosed, meaning these children are not getting the support they need. Often times the struggles faced by these children are compounded by learning challenges, language impairment, motor planning deficits, reading dysfunction, attention disorders, and behavioral problems. We want to improve these statistics by raising awareness, and ultimately helping people understand the importance of getting help if their children do not seem to be meeting typical developmental milestones or are showing signs of any kind of rare disorder. Our goal is to support children and families who have experienced a journey similar to ours, and to shed light on the importance of early intervention for those who have yet to seek help.”
The “A Rare Affair” fundraising event will take place on Saturday, September 23rd, 5-10pm at Globe Hill at Ronnybrook Farm, 310 Prospect Hill Road Pine Plains, NY 12567. Tickets cost $85 per person, there is early bird pricing of $75 per person if purchased before August 7th. Sponsorships start at $100. Half of the profits raised at the event will be donated to The Focus Foundation, the remaining half of the funds will support the Cure JM Foundation in honor of Maddie Clements.
“Immediately after I learned about Maddie and all of the medical challenges she had faced, I was so inspired by her bravery and bright spirit. She is truly an inspiration to all those around her and we could not be more excited to honor her at this year’s event.”

About Colton’s XXXtraordinarY Cause:
Our mission is to raise awareness about rare disorders, and to raise funds to support research and treatment for children who have been diagnosed with a rare disorder. We host special events to achieve this goal, and rely on the generosity of individuals, foundations, and corporations to bridge the gaps between financial needs and resources for our benefactors. Ultimately, we seek to raise the kind of awareness necessary to promote early diagnosis and intervention in honor of children like Colton.
