WHO: Rhinebeck Central School art students from grades K through 12 present a body of work containing a variety of media used in their academic classes. This show highlights works of art by students studying with Fawn Johnson (CLS), Jennifer Famiglietti (BMS), and Kathryn Giles and Cynthia Baer (RHS). These works show the expertise and diversity students gain as they study art within Rhinebeck Central Schools’ arts curriculum as well as the faculty’s creativity in developing artistic talent.
WHAT: This exhibit provides a montage of creative experiences Rhinebeck Central School students in grades K through 12 are exposed to as they participate in Rhinebeck’s course offerings. This collection of student work includes still life, portrait, landscape, and abstract works. While the works reflect the students’ proficiency in using mixed media, drawing (pencil or charcoal), pastel, mosaics, and acrylic painting, they also reflect the themes and interests of the individual student. Some themes reflect local themes while others show students’ developing self-awareness or substantiate students’ understanding of balancing the elements and principles of art.
The 11th Annual Rhinebeck Central School District Art Show at Montgomery Row will be on display May 1 – May 31, 2017.
WHY: The students’ art works range from fanciful to realistic expressing talent seen in works by professional artists.
As budget line items for education continue to be cut, it is more important than ever to see first hand the results of our educational dollars at work and the importance of art inclusion within the public school system. In Rhinebeck, art teachers draw out their students’ talents within a structured environment encouraging growth and maturation and a pathway to find their voice through art.
WHERE: Montgomery Row Second Level is located at Montgomery Row,
