Notice of Firewood Sales

Sealed bids for firewood will be opened February 3rd, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Village Hall on 76 East Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. Bids must be submitted using the Villages’ bid form. They can be sent by mail to the above address or hand delivered to the office during normal business hours; bids received after the bid opening will not be accepted. Faxed or emailed bids will not be accepted. To view the firewood piles, the bidder must contact the Village Superintendent for a scheduled appointment.

Firewood Bidding Rules:
– You may bid on all (2) firewood piles if you wish. Piles will be awarded to the highest bidder. If there any tie bids, the awarded bidder will be determined by a lottery.

– The high bidder will be required to execute a local sale contract and pay the full bid amount prior to removal of firewood.

– The buyer must submit proof of Worker’s Compensation Board CE200 exemption certificate at the time of contract execution.

– All firewood must be cut and removed within 3 business days.

– Any person operating a chainsaw will be required to wear: hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, and cut resistant chaps or pants. Additionally, the chainsaw must have a properly functioning chain brake.

New York State Firewood Regulations:

1) Transportation, sale and possession of “New York- Sourced Firewood” more than 50 miles linear distance from the source of the firewood is prohibited. No contract will be awarded to an address further than 50 miles from the Village’s Highway Garage, 282 Route 308, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

2) All persons who cut and transport untreated firewood, from a New York Source, must complete and possess a certificate of source. The high bidder of local sales having firewood will receive a “Certificate for Transport and Possession of New York Sourced Untreated Firewood”.

Sealed bids for surplus equipment will be opened February 3rd, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Village Hall on 76 East Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. Bids must be submitted using the Villages’ bid form. They can be sent by mail to the above address or hand delivered to the office during normal business hours; bids received after the bid opening will not be accepted. items are sold “as is” with no warranty written or implied. Please contact Patricia Coon, Village Clerk at 76 East Market St., Rhinebeck, NY 12572 to obtain a bid form. To view the equipment, the bidder must contact the Village Superintendent for a scheduled appointment. Please mark sealed bid with item name on outside of envelope.
