We at Messiah are called to share the joy in our hearts. We seek to live in the power of the Spirit, welcoming all into our parish family. We strive to be a community where people are both comforted by God’s love and challenged to live lives of service in the world.

We meet for service at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. every Sunday . We’re located at the corner of Montgomery Street (Rt. 9) and Chestnut Street in Rhinebeck Village, two blocks north of East Market Street.

Whoever you are and wherever you’re from, you are welcome in God’s house. We greet you with the hand of fellowship and the assurance of acceptance in our midst. Please join us, even if you’re just in town for the day!

Food Pantry News

Happy 2017 from the Jayne Brooks Food Pantry!

The final months of the year are always our busiest and 2016 was no exception. We had almost 800 household visits in September through December, with total visits of about 2000 for the year – about 300 more than we had the prior year.  By the end of 2016 we had 280 registered households for the year, serving on average 40 per week.

The holiday season is a festive one at the pantry, with both volunteers and clients sharing their holiday cookies and goodies.  For both Thanksgiving and the December holidays we offered grocery gift cards, chickens and a variety of special holiday treats and food items.  Special donations of stuffed animals and children’s holiday books were also a big hit.  Finally, our annual coat giveaway began in November, with about 175 coats provided by Dutchess Outreach, and 40 from members of the community.

One of the most gratifying things about spending time at the pantry is to see the spirit of hospitality and cooperation among all participants: both clients and volunteers.  Some of our clients have become faithful volunteers, while others often arrive early to help set up, or just to have a cup of coffee.  We are a real community!

We could not continue to meet the ongoing needs of our friends and neighbors without the cheerful support of our many volunteers, and the generous contributions of local businesses and organizations, and members of the community.  Thank you all!
