A Daring Journey: From Immigration to Education Red Hook Public Library screens documentary at the Elmendorph Inn

 

(RED HOOK, NY) — As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Red Hook Public Library and La Voz magazine will be screening Dorothy Fadiman and Owen Tomlins’ documentary, A Daring Journey. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at the Elmendorph Inn.

 

This documentary follows three stories about individuals who risked their lives to cross the border from Mexico to the United States. This film documents their struggles to earn a living in the shadows of our immigration system, as they seek higher education for themselves and their children.

This program is free and open to the public. The Elmendorph Inn is located at 7592 N Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571.

Red Hook Public Library has been serving the community of Red Hook and its need for lifelong learning since 1898. In 2013, 2014, and 2015, it was designated a five-star library by Library Journal. The library was chosen as a finalist for the Best Small Library in America award, given by Library Journal and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2015.
