Sugar Skulls Red Hook Public Library hosts Día de Muertos programs
(RED HOOK, NY) — Celebrate Día de Muertos by decorating calaveras at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, at the Red Hook Public Library. Adults and teens are welcome to learn how to embellish traditional sugar skulls used to decorate ofrendas, or altars honoring the deceased.
Alfeñique, or sugar paste, skulls will be provided to participants.
This program is free and open to those ages 13 years old or older. Please register for this event by calling the library at 845-758-3241; supplies are limited.
Red Hook Public Library has been serving the community of Red Hook and its need for lifelong learning since 1898. In 2013, 2014, and 2015, it was designated a five-star library by Library Journal. The library was chosen as a finalist for the Best Small Library in America award, given by Library Journal and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2015.
