Millerton’s Winter Farmers Market Opens Indoors at the Millerton Methodist Church on Saturday, November 5

The first Saturday in November kicks off Millerton’s Winter Farmers Market. Sponsored by the North East Community Center (NECC), the winter market will move indoors on November 5. It will be held at the Millerton Methodist Church, 6 Dutchess Avenue, at the corner of Main Street.

The market will be held from 10 am to 2 pm, so after grabbing breakfast at Irving Farms, stroll across the street and check out the wide variety of products from our vendors! The Winter Market will continue to be held every Saturday until January. Then, from January to April, it will run bi-weekly on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.

The market is celebrating its tenth year in 2016. “NECC is proud to sponsor the Farmers Market, as it meets so many of our most valued goals,” explained Jenny Hansell, NECC’s Executive Director. “It’s an educational opportunity for teens in our Farm and Food Education Program. It provides opportunities for the entire community to access local, fresh, and affordable food, and it supports local businesses and farmers.  Most importantly, it’s a festive gathering place to connect with friends and neighbors and brings people together.”

The market will continue to host vendors from the Hudson Valley and tri-state area who offer a variety of local products.  Moon in the Pond will be offering an array of organic vegetables and herbs, as well as heritage meats. Full Circus Farm will also be back this winter with their organic veggies, local maple syrup, and a wide variety of nursery fruit trees. Be sure to visit Olde Forge Farms, who will offer their delicious poultry and pork products, eggs, and micro-greens. Customer favorite Hawk Dance will bring seasonal organic produce, herbs, flowers, home-made jams, and beeswax candles.

A large assortment of freshly baked desserts will be available from Coco’s Crumbs. Jacuterie will offer their locally handcrafted charcuterie alongside Chaseholm Farm’s artisanal cheeses. Lost Ruby, a regular at our summer market, will be joining us this winter to sell their delicious goat cheese. Our favorite vegan Indian food, Love Feast, will also be returning this winter!

“It’s really special to witness the community come together week after week to support the market,” said Sheila DePaola, Farmers Market Manager. “Buying local has so many benefits, on both a small and large scale and it’s really important to support our local entrepreneurs. And eating locally grown, minimally processed, whole foods has many health benefits.”

NECC’s Food-Access interns—teenagers learning about our local food system—will be at the market every week to help customers and demonstrate how to cook market ingredients. This will give the public many opportunities to sample the various products vendors are selling. Whether you are shopping for yourself, your family, or in need of a gift for a loved one, stop by the winter market to see all that the area has to offer!

The Millerton Winter Market will continue to accept Debit/Credit Cards, EBT/SNAP (food stamps), Senior and WIC Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program checks, and Health Bucks. Donations in support of our Fresh Food Pantry Program can be made at NECC’s Farmer’s Market Manager table or at

The market is sponsored by NECC and is funded in part by Dutchess County Department of Planning and Development, Hudson River Bank and Trust Company Foundation, and the Ann and Abe Effron fund of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. We also thank Green Mountain Energy for partially funding our Health Bucks Program.
