The Orchestra Now’s second concert of the 2016–17 season features: Benjamin Britten‘s alluring Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes; Gustav Mahler‘s impassioned Adagio from Symphony No. 10;William Walton‘s introspective Cello Concerto; and Edward Elgar’s absorbing Enigma Variations. Conducted by Leon Botstein, music director.

Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra

Rice University’s Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of music director Larry Rachleff. Acclaimed faculty artist Jon Kimura Parker joins the orchestra forSergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, followed by a world premiere work by award-winning faculty composer Pierre Jalbert.

Conservatory Weekends

The Bard College Conservatory Orchestra performs a selection of classic pieces, including Ludwig van Beethoven‘s LeonoreOverture No. 2; Shostakovich‘s Symphony 5 in D minor, op. 47; and Béla Bartók‘sConcerto for Orchestra. Conducted by Leon Botstein, music director.

This concert, choreographed and performed by Bard students and assisted by professional lighting and costume designers, gives students a chance to explore new choreographic terrain. Some dances are presented in partial fulfillment for acceptance into the program.
