Food Pantry News
The Jayne Brooks Food Pantry has continued to be busy throughout the summer.  We have had over 1200 visits so far in 2016 (through August), serving on average 40 households per week.  Thanks once again to our many cheerful volunteers and donors for helping us keep up with the demands of the community.
The summer months are especially enjoyable at the Pantry, when we are joined by many of our young people during school holidays.  During this time we also receive very generous donations from our local farms, allowing us to offer our clients a great variety of fresh produce.  As we approached the beginning of the school year, we were able to add to our offerings a selection of school supplies, thanks to a special donation from a member of our community designated for this purpose.
Our clients come mainly from Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Staatsburg, and Hyde Park, with about one-third of them children and the elderly.  So far this year the pantry has 365 registered households, so it promises to be a busy fall.
Many thanks to the community for all of your support in contributions and volunteer hours that allow us to help meet this important need.
