Tivoli, New York — The Tivoli Free Library invites people of all ages to join us on Saturday, July 16th at 2pm on the third floor of the library building at 86 Broadway in Tivoli for a fun and lively family drum circle workshop with educator and musician, Otha Day.

A Drum Circle is a highly interactive group of people who play drums and percussion instruments together to create in-the-moment music. Through the experience of rhythm and sound we experience what it means to beat as one heart: we become a vibrant community. With playful and accessible rhythm activities, games, traditional ensemble pieces, songs and most importantly improvisation, DRUM TO THE BEAT! drum circles support and encourage:

  • Communication and Creativity
  • Community and Connections
  • Cooperation and Collaboration
  • Healthy Lifestyle and Stress Reduction
  • Mind, Body and Spirit Balance

And they are just plain FUN!

Otha creates a joy-filled environment of learning and playing the rhythms, songs, and chants from a diverse range of cultures, including West African, Native American, South American and Asian. You’re sure to leave his drum circle feeling inspired, uplifted and wonderfully healed by the experience. Free and open to all!

This program is free and open to all. For more information about Otha and his drum circles, go to www.drumtothebeat.com.
