The Town of Rhinebeck invites the public to enjoy the Town’s 9th Annual Waterfront Day, a free event at the Rhinecliff Landing on Saturday, June 11th from 11am-7pm.
A shuttle service will be available at the Town of Rhinebeck Highway Department located at 119 Rhinecliff Road to transport people to the waterfront at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm, with a final run from Rhinecliff back to the Highway Department when the festival ends at 7pm. There will be live music and activities for people of all ages, as well as some interesting and beautiful handmade crafts for sale.
Classic rock by local favorites U-Guys and Bob and the Boys; original music performed by singers/songwriters Todd Young and Joe Mondello; and Chris Davidson playing some old Delta Blues!
Food will be provided by China Rose Restaurant, with a waterfront menu featuring a pig roast, hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and more!
FARMER’S DOOR, with assorted hand-selected local cheeses and other goods;
POSSIBILITY STUDIOS, which offers the use of tools, space to work, and assistance in creating projects for both adults and children;
LIVING EDGE DESIGNS, a Country Living Fair local favorite offering “live edge” cutting and serving boards carved out of local hardwoods such as Walnut, Cherry, Sugar Maple, Locust, and Sycamore;
CULTURE CONNECT, a program that teaches kids to operate in a global world through immersion in the culture of Madagascar, will have a table with scarves, bowls, toys, games, tapestries and other items made by Malagasy artisans;
Local artisan GRACE GUNNING with her beautifully hand-crafted Reliquary Boxes, jewelry and ornaments;
HEALING PADS, heating pads made with corn and infused with lavender;
RHINEBECK GRANGE, with a basket raffle of local agricultural goods, chocolate covered strawberries while supplies last, and “sponsor a kid” thru adult egg toss game with prizes throughout the day;
RHINEBECK FARMERS MARKET, with recipes, t-shirts, totes and more;
RHINEBECK REPAIR CAFÉ, a free service begun in Europe, there are now over 400 Repair Cafes around the world! Find out how to bring your beloved broken item for repair, or volunteer as a repair coach;
PUBLIC ACCESS, folks from our local PANDA (Public Access Northern Dutchess Area) station will be on hand to talk about exciting new changes at PANDA and to enter your name for a fall drawing where they will give away a free IPAD;
NORTHERN DUTCHESS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, with pamphlets, postcards and posters advertising their upcoming concert on June 18 at Rhinebeck High School;
GUANABANA BOOKS, local author Jerrice Baptiste with her own children’s books and adult poetry for sale and one free giveaway of her book, “My Cat Adeline”!
ACTIVITIES FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES!
MORTON MEMORIAL LIBRARY & COMMUNITY HOUSE, at noon, Sandy Bartlett from Rhinecliff’s jewel, the Morton Memorial Library and Community House, will read stories to children having to do with our very own Hudson River and region;
TOWN OF RHINEBECK RECREATION DEPT., will have information on summer programs for adults and children and a game table for checkers, chess, dominoes and backgammon;
WITH FLYING COLORS, cultivating creativity and expression with young children through guided artistic explorations;
WATER FERRY WITH TRIPS TO THE RONDOUT AND BACK & LOCAL TOURS!
An exciting new feature this year is the water ferry, which will transport people from the Rhinecliff Landing to the Rondout in Kingston (see schedule below). The cost is $12 one way and $20 roundtrip. The ferry will also offer excursions on the Hudson for anyone who wants a tour of the area between 2:00-4:00 pm for only $5 per passenger.
So tell your families, friends and neighbors not to miss this year’s community-wide waterfront celebration! The day’s events will take place rain or shine. No vehicles will be allowed on the dock from 10:30am – 7:00pm. Free parking is also available in the Amtrak parking lot, across from the Landing.
