Tivoli, New York — The Tivoli Free Library invites readers of all ages to join the fun during this year’s summer reading program. The library has many fun and free events planned for kids, teens, and adults throughout the summer as well as great prizes for readers of all ages. This year’s theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!”
The program kicks off on Friday, July 1st with a mock “Olympic Torch” relay and a visit from the ever-popular Jester Jim. Get here at 6:30pm to see the Village of Tivoli Torch relay and follow our racers up to the third floor of the library building, where we will enjoy Jester Jim’s hilarious act! Young and old will be glued to his every sound as he performs his amazing beatbox intro. Kids and adults alike will be talking about Jester Jim’s wild antics for weeks!
On Saturday, July 16 at 2 pm, join educator and musician Otha Day for a fun and lively family drum circle workshop! Otha creates a joy-filled environment of learning and playing the rhythms, songs, and chants from a diverse range of cultures, including West African, Native American, South American and Asian. You’re sure to leave his drum circle feeling inspired, uplifted and wonderfully healed by the experience. Free and open to all!
The program wraps up on Saturday, August 6 at the village of Tivoli’s annual community celebration, Tivoli Day! Join us as we wrap up a summer of fun with a full day of food, games, live music and more at the Tivoli Rec Park.
The Tivoli Free Library has many other programs and events planned for summer — from yoga for children to ‘zine making for teens.
