Northern Dutchess Hospital named Wound Care Center of Excellence

Rhinebeck – Northern Dutchess Hospital’s Wound Care Center recently achieved Center of Excellence recognition for having high standards of patient care for two consecutive years.

The award comes from Healogics, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based company that works with Northern Dutchess Hospital to treat chronic and acute wounds including diabetic and pressure ulcers and non-healing surgical wounds.

Out of 780 centers, Northern Dutchess was among 110 that were honored with the Robert A. Warriner III Center of Excellence Award, named after wound care pioneer and Healogics’ former chief medical officer.

To be eligible, Northern Dutchess had a patient satisfaction rate above 92 percent and healed more than 91 percent of patients within 30 days on average, and achieved both high marks in 2014 and 2015.

“We realize how important it is to achieve the best outcomes for our patients who are suffering from slowly healing wounds, and we will continue to strive for the same excellence in care in the years to come,” said Tammy Flynn, the wound care center’s recently appointed program director.

Hyperbaric medicine speeds up wound healing by using a combination of oxygen and pressure. The center has two hyperbaric chambers and is accredited by the Undersea Hyperbaric Medical Society. For information, visit or call 845-871-3888 (TTY 1-800-421-1220).
