State Police search for missing 68-year-old Edward Lopez of Stanford now focused on NYC area

Stanford, New York – The New York State Police from Poughkeepsie have concluded the search in the Stanford area for 68-year-old Edward E. Lopez, who was reported missing from the Lakeview Chateau Community Residence on Monday March 14, 2016.

Information developed on Friday has now focused the search efforts to the confines of New York City.

The New York State Police would like to thank the numerous agencies that have assisted thus far in this investigation including: the New York State Forest Rangers, New York State ENCON Officers, members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Westchester County Department of Public Safety, New York City Police Department, New York State Police from Troop NYC, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, Department of Social Services, and numerous volunteers search and rescue teams from around the tristate area including: Search Team 5-1, Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue, Central Adirondack Search and Rescue, Sam’s Point Search and Rescue Eagle Valley Search Dogs, Northeast Mobile Search and Rescue, Hudson Mohawk Search and Rescue, Tri State Emergency Response Search and Rescue, New Jersey Search and Rescue, Cayuga County Highland Search Dogs.

It is estimated that over 280 people and multiple K-9 units have been utilized to search over 1500 acres on foot, an additional 1000+ acres by air and ATV/UTV, and Hunns Lake was completely searched by the NYSP SCUBA unit.

Captain Dominick L. Chiumento, Troop K Zone 2 Commander, stated that, “Since the report on Monday, search teams have worked tirelessly in an effort to locate Mr. Lopez. The assistance and cooperation that we received from all agencies was tremendous.  The abilities and efforts of the State Forest Rangers was such a critical asset in this search endeavor.  Our efforts will now focus in New York City with our Troopers assigned there as well as our other law enforcement partners.  I have to give a special thanks to the residents of the Town of Stanford for their patience and cooperation, with deep appreciation to the Stanford Fire Company Number 1 and all its members for the hospitality that they showed in opening up their entire station for our command post.”
