LETTER TO THE EDITOR FROM BRENDA KLAPROTH RE : SCOTT CRUIKSHANK
To the Editor:
Scott Cruikshank is exceptionally well qualified to be a village trustee. I personally served with him on both The Southlands Foundation Board and the Rhinebeck Village Board where I found him to be committed, intelligent, hard working, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to serve with.
Scott grew up in Clinton Corners and went to Rhinebeck schools. He always envied how his school pals could walk to school and around town, thus moved to the village shortly after graduation.
As a teenager and young adult he learned the construction trade the hands on way, essentially as an apprentice to local builders Jerry Traudt, John McGuire, and Steve Cornacchini, helping them construct and restore many of the village homes. Such experience provided a sound foundation for his subsequent employment by Kirchhoff Consigli Construction Management where he rose through the firm to the position of Project Executive. Scott has played a role in the growth of Kirchhoff-Consigli through his management of some of the company’s most complex and high profile projects, such as The CIA’s recently opened student dining center and microbrewery (dubbed “The Egg”) and the Marriott Pavilion. Closer to home he oversaw the move of the Mt. Ross schoolhouse to the fairgrounds and the latest addition to the Astor Home.
Two exemplary examples of proper historic preservation and rehabilitation are apparent in his North Parsonage Street home which he rehabilitated and enlarged, and a distressed house on Oak Street which he completely rebuilt as a rental.
His intimate knowledge of Rhinebeck and extensive professional construction experience uniquely qualify Scott to contribute to any and all current or future physical municipal infrastructure projects in a way that will minimize costs and maximize results.
Scott is also a member of the Dutchess County Agricultural Society and a Land Steward for Scenic Hudson’s Burger Hill Park. Due to his demonstrated passion for and investment in Rhinebeck along with his professional construction credentials, onMarch 15 I will be voting for Scott Cruikshank. Please join me.
