Blood drives scheduled at Northern Dutchess Hospital

Rhinebeck, N.Y. – Every two seconds someone in the United States receives a blood transfusion,  according to the American Red Cross.

The public can help by participating in one of Northern Dutchess Hospital’s five blood drives planned for 2016. The blood drives are from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 5, April 1, June 3, Sept. 16 and Dec. 2. The events are held in the cafeteria conference room of the hospital, 6511 Springbrook Ave.

Last year, Northern Dutchess collected enough blood donations to help save or sustain up to 447 lives, according to the Dutchess County chapter of the American Red Cross.

“There’s no greater pleasure than realizing your team has been able to save lives by giving everything we have to make a successful drive,” hospital volunteer services Manager Trish Napolitano said.
