Dutchess County Office for the Aging Director Mary Kaye Dolan advises “seniors should be vigilant against any and all phone and email scams,”

With reports of scammers posing as IRS agents or debt collectors calling residents and asking for personal information or money transfers to settle tax debts, Dutchess County Office for the Aging Director Mary Kaye Dolan advises “seniors should be vigilant against any and all phone and email scams,” adding “if you get a call from someone saying they are from the IRS and you think you may owe taxes, hang up and call 1-800-829-1040. If you are certain you do not owe any taxes, call the Treasury Inspector General at 1-800-366-4484 to report the incident.”
