Make Local Red Hook Public Library offers gift making on Black Friday

(RED HOOK, NY) —  As an alternative to the shopping rush this Black Friday, craft handmade gifts with materials found in nature. Drop in to Red Hook Public Library between 1 and 3 p.m. on Friday, November 27, to make two creative projects. Make a rustic mobile from pinecones and decorate an ornament with acorns to give as gifts.

Projects are suitable for children with supervision as well as adventurous adults. This event is free and open to the public.

Red Hook Public Library has been serving the community of Red Hook and its need for lifelong learning since 1898. In 1935, the library made its home in a mid-nineteenth century octagonal building based on the designs of Orson Squire Fowler. In 2013 and 2014, it was designated a five-star library by Library Journal. The library was chosen as a finalist for the Best Small Library in America award, given by Library Journal and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2015.
