Funding the Library
Despite best efforts to control costs and raise funds, Starr Library is currently operating at a deficit. In order to strengthen Starr Library’s finances and enable the library to better serve the Rhinebeck community, the library is seeking an increase in funding from taxpayers via a “Chapter 414” proposition on Election Day, November 3, 2015.
A Note From Starr Library:
A forty-four percent increase. Wow, that sounds like a lot, but it would only cost Rhinebeck’s taxpayers an average of $24.00 per year, and this is the first time we’ve asked the community help in a decade. The $99,800 amount we’re hoping to receive works out to $7.74 per $100,000 of assessed home value.
