Injury prevention is focus of Northern Dutchess Hospital’s Back School

Rhinebeck, N.Y. – At home or work, we constantly lift, push, pull and put strain on our backs.

That’s why Northern Dutchess Hospital is offering an injury prevention program, Back School, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 in the hospital’s board room, 6511 Springbrook Ave.

At Back School, participants learn how to care for their backs including proper body mechanics, the correct way to move and position the body, lifestyle changes and proper lifting techniques. The class is designed to help people make simple modifications and avoid common mistakes.

“It’s important to know your body’s limitations and how to prevent your back against strains and sprains through good habits,” said Larry Flowers, physical therapy assistant at Northern Dutchess Hospital.

This back safety course is offered as a community benefit. Booklets will be available for purchase for $10. For information or to reserve a seat, call 845-871-3427. For hospital information, visit www.healthquest.org/ndh
