A Message From Scenic Hudson Re: Poets’ Walk Park

Please leash your dog while visiting Scenic Hudson’s Poets’ Walk Park

Help us! Poets’ Walk Park—a very popular park in Red Hook—is cherished by all who visit. There is a growing problem with some visitors allowing their dogs to run off leash. Scenic Hudson requires dogs be leashed at all times and owners must clean up after them. Those who don’t abide by the rules violate a Town of Red Hook ordinance. If the problem continues, Scenic Hudson may be forced to ban dogs from the park. Scenic Hudson’s dog policy: http://www.scenichudson.org/scenic-hudsons-dog-policy

No matter how well behaved a dog is, without a leash he or she may:
• Disturb wildlife—skunks, porcupines, ground nesting birds, reptiles
• Contact park visitors who are allergic to or frightened of dogs
• Fight with other dogs
• Get lost in the woods
• Acquire disease carrying ticks and poison ivy that can be transferred to you

Leashing your dog while you enjoy this free park shows respect for nature, your neighbors and your community. Your cooperation will allow dogs to continue to use the park.
Thank you!
