The Village of Rhinebeck is creating a Parks and Recreation Committee.  The role of this committee will be to advise the Village Board on optimal utilization of the park space within the Village and to explore the potential for additional recreational opportunities.    Committee members should have knowledge of and interest in ecology, nature, recreation, and the ability to communicate that effectively to others.  They should also be able to work well in a group, organize people and projects, and learn new things.
Parks and Recreation members are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Rhinebeck Village Board of Trustees.  Please send a letter outlining your interest and any skills or special knowledge to the Village Clerk, Pat Coon, Rhinebeck Village Hall, 76 E. Market St., Rhinebeck, NY 12572 or by email at village.clerk@rhinebeck-ny.gov

A person is needed to serve as a volunteer member of the Village of Rhinebeck Tree Commission.  The Commission meets at 7 PM on the firstTuesday of each month at Village Hall.  The role of the Tree Commission is to protect and maintain Rhinebeck’s trees in order to preserve the natural beauty and community character of the Village.  Commission members make recommendations to the Village Board regarding tree pruning and removal, plant trees twice a year, communicate to the public about trees, their care and their role in the environment, and work to protect soil, wetlands, water bodies, air quality, vegetation, wildlife and other natural resources by advising governmental bodies about trees in developments, and other projects that might come before the Village Board, the Planning Board or other groups as needed.
Tree Commission members should have knowledge of and interest in ecology and nature, and the ability to communicate that effectively to others.  They should also be able to work well in a group, organize people and projects, and learn new things.  The ability to recognize tree species, prune and teach these skills to others is helpful but not essential.  Some physical strength is helpful.
