Construction/Repair Projects underway in the Village:
Please be advised of the 2 projects currently underway in the Village.
The first project is the repair of Asher Dam at Crystal Lake and the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Landsman Kill on the East side of Route 9. These repairs are in response to damage to these 2 structures caused by Hurricane Irene and are being completed in coordination with the New York State DEC, the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services, and FEMA. The project started last week and is the reason that the level of Crystal Lake has been lowered. It is expected that the water level will be raised a few feet tomorrow, 7/23, and to the normal level within 2 weeks.
The second project is the installation of 2 accessible crosswalks. This project is being completed in coordination with the Dutchess County Planning Department and the New York State DOT. This project is scheduled to begin tomorrow, 7/23, and may result in some disruption of traffic patterns on Rt. 9 and West Market Street. The Rt. 9 crosswalk will be installed south of the traffic light in the vicinity of the Chamber of Commerce building. The West Market St. crosswalk will be installed west of the traffic light in the vicinity of Garden Street.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience while these projects designed to improve and ensure public safety are in progress.
