Red Hook’s Sculpture Expo 2014 opens June 28
(RED HOOK, NY) – The streets of Red Hook will become a gallery from June 15 through November 21, when the second annual Red Hook Sculpture Expo is installed at prominent sites throughout the village. An opening celebration will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Red Hook Community Arts Network Gallery and Artists Collective.
Visitors to Red Hook will be able to see fourteen sculptures by eight artists, working with granite, steel, iron, wood and marble dust. The work – by local and regional artists – includes representational and abstract sculptures.
“We were excited to have won Arts Mid-Hudson Executive’s Arts Award for Art in Public Places for Sculpture Expo 2013,” said Rita Gentile, who curated Sculpture Expo 2014 with Conrad Levenson. “We’re pleased to have found another strong group of work to exhibit this year.”
This year’s Sculpture Expo will include work by Leon Smith, Conrad Levenson, David Channon, Allan Cyprys, Frederik Rostock, Gilbert Boro, Tyler Borchert and Binney Meigs. “The Expo is designed as a self-guided walking tour,” explained Gentile. “Sculptures will be placed in front of businesses, the Village Hall, Red Hook Public Library, the Elmendorph Inn and Veteran’s Memorial Park.”
All work featured in the Sculpture Expo is for sale.
The Red Hook Community Arts Network Gallery and Artists Collective is located at 7516 N. Broadway in Red Hook, NY. For more information about the exhibit, contact Rita Gentile at email@example.com or (845) 704-2557.
