  1. Please, please, please do your research and don’t be tricked by this hoax! What he does is nothing less than satanic! Use great caution here and don’t be fooled. This is very dangerous!

John of God is the “stage” name for Joao Teixeira da Faria, a Brazilian who claims to be possessed by 33 different “healers” including St. Ignatius de Loyola, founder of the Jesuit order. Indeed, da Faria claims thousands of beings work with him as he ministers to the hundreds who flock to him for healing.

In treating those who come to him for healing, da Faria uses techniques unknown to medial science. For instance he will insert a metal probe into the nose of a “patient” in order to cause bleeding. He also makes incisions on the bodies of his subjects (with no apparent relationship to the disease of the person) and forces his fingers into the wound. He does this while under the control of one or more of the 33 “entities.”

It is ironic da Faria is called “John of God.” Considered “one of the most powerful channeling mediums and healers alive today” (, da Faria actually represents a world view diametrically opposed to the God of the Bible.

The Holy Bible clearly states mediums and necromancers are enemies of God (Deuteronomy 18:10-12 and many more). Rather than rely upon God they seek to manipulate the natural realm by the power of evil spirits. The “entities” possessing Joao Teixeira da Faria call themselves by the names of long dead human beings but they are actually demonic spirits, bent on deceiving gullible people and leading them astray.

Although there is documented evidence some have been cured in visiting da Faria, there is little or no follow up reporting. Some are truly healed. Others may experience improvement in their condition due to the placebo effect of hope, but in any case the price paid for their involvement in the demonic practices of da Faria is high.

It is interesting that there have been other physic healers in South America with “ministries” similar to da Faria’s. They have been able to perform miraculous cures that baffle medical science but they too have brought their “patients” under the power of demons. For instance, Jose Pedro de Freitas would “take a simple pocketknife, jab it into the body of the patient (usually his eye), twist it around violently, reach in and pull out the growth or whatever, seal up the flesh in a matter of seconds without stitches, and send the patient on his way” (Gary North, Unholy Spirits: Occultism and New Age Humanism, 229). It is no accident that the practices of de Freitas and da Faria are very much the same. Both represent a world view that rejects the principal of increased blessings through salvation in Jesus Christ and long term ethical compliance to God’s Word. Instead they embrace a philosophy of life that promises advance thorough periodic supernatural intervention on behalf of those who maintain the proper ritual.

Joao Teixeira da Faria is nothing more than a spirit medium who has spent thirty years perfecting his performance. Unfortunately, many are fooled by his chosen moniker “John of God” and believe his work is based upon a sound moral. They discover the truth too late.

    1. Something is not quite right about John of God. Although he has been promoted and endorsed by Oprah( she also will promote anybody to make money and ratings) The news show 60 Minutes with Michael Usher, just did an scathing investigative report of John of God on 10/26/2014, prior to his arrival to Australia in Nov 2014. Calling John of God’s pretend medical treatment horrendous and barbaric! And grilling him about his sexual molestation charges and the great deal of money he makes(in the millions) by fooling sick and desperate people with absolutely no creditable records of healing treatments!
Also check Lisa Melman, the unfortunate woman Oprah used on her show to promote John of God. She had breast cancer and refused medical treatment instead having John of God’s psychic surgery( where he stuck a pair of forceps up her nose to cure her cancer). Guess what happen to Lisa. Real hard facts and real tragedy.

  2. Please note: The above information was taken from a Googled article that appropriately describes things much better than I could have ever written it. 🙂

  3. Actually an article based on zero direct experience by the person who wrote it, who based on a few videos entirely misunderstands what actual occurs during the healing sessions, 99.99% of which in Brasil involve no physical actions; and outside of Brazil 100% of which involve no physical actions. Believe what you want.

  4. Wow, this article is as false as it claims John of God to be. I have experience lots of healing from John of God and the good spirits. We all have the power and spirits within us. It’s sad that some people do not have faith. That is why they have to put others down. I send you love and healing energy.

  5. Thank you for bringing attention to John of God at Omega! I have done my research and I am a big believer in God’s Healing Angels. I began to hear those Angels that work through John of God speaking to me after reading Heather Cumming’s book about him. When a friend was directed by John of God’s Healing Angels to take me to see John of God in Brazil, he did, and I am grateful. I had elbow injuries which had pained me for twenty-five years and incapacitated me for one, and two torn shoulder muscles. Under John of God’s care, my shoulders and elbows have been completely healed. This heavenly bliss and awareness of being loved by God is something I wish for everyone. There are thousands upon thousands of documented stories of the healings that God has performed through his servant known to us as John of God, which is not a name he uses for himself. He sees himself humbly as a servant of God, a servant of God’s desire to heal his people.

  6. Dear Zing Nafzinger
Please do some realistic research into John of God and his multimillion dollar business before y promoting him to sick and desperate people. 60 minutes of Australian aired a scathing investigative report in 2014 of his bogus faith healing, money making and sex charges, labeling him ‘JOHN THE CON!
Also, by coincidence, you yourself are involved in new age healing business! And hardly unbiased and are probably trying to drum up business for yourself.
You also blatantly state that there are ‘thousands and thousands of DOCUMENTED stories of healings..”
There are NONE! I tell you, name one DOCUMENTED case. You are right, there are thousands of STORIES, though, told by people like yourself, involved in spiritual money making. Research Lisa Melman’s story and see for yourself what kind of man john of god is. He treated her breast cancer with horrible and tragic result.

  7. Most of them are fakes,99%but there are also legit individuals like
Arigo of Brazil,(he is dead0and Olga and Ambrose Worral of Baltimore(also gone)
