Swing of Things
Swing lessons and dance at Red Hook Firehouse
(RED HOOK, NY) – Looking to Lindy? Itching to learn some fancy footwork? Grab your dancing shoes at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, and come to the Red Hook Firehouse for swing dance classes followed by a dance. Hosted by Bard College’s Branches program and Red Hook Public Library, the evening is free and open to the public.
Bard Branches is a holistic after-school program which connects Bard students with local students in grades 5-8 for tutoring and other academic resources, as well as with opportunities in the community. We believe that all students want to engage in discovery and creativity, and that geographic obstacles should not stand in between students and success.
Red Hook Public Library was founded in 1898 and serves the community of Red Hook and its need for lifelong learning. Since 1935, the library has made its home in a building designed by Orson Squire Fowler. Built by Red Hook Tobacco Factory owner Allen Barringer Hendricks, the house is one of the finest examples of octagonal architecture in the Hudson Valley.
