Young Rhinebeck prepares youth to interact with their local and global
community with intelligence, cultural competence, ethics,
compassion, and generosity.
Young Rhinebeck, originally known as Rhinebeck Connections,
established in 1993 and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1996,
serves middle and high school students in the
Hudson Valley community of Rhinebeck, NY.
Half Day / Whole World
The goal of Half Day / Whole World is to give our middle school age kids exposure to parts of the world that they may not otherwise know much about. The kids get to try foods and activities from other countries. The activities typically involve arts and some kind of movement. Members of our community typically run the program (and sometimes cook the food, which otherwise comes from local restaurants). The program is open to middle school age kids in Rhinebeck (including those that are home schooled and attend private schools).
This program helps Young Rhinebeck achieve its mission, to prepare youth to interact with their local and global community with intelligence, cultural competence, ethics, compassion and generosity. It is one of two activities we run for middle school age kids – the other one, Art Connect, brings kids to local museums for activities and a sleepover. The next one of those will be at Bard on November 1.
