Calico Restaurant MS fundraiser

For the past 19 years, my wife Leslie and I have owned and operated Calico Restaurant & Patisserie in Rhinebeck, NY. www.calicorhinebeck.com

Each year we choose a different charity to raise money for. 100% of the monies raised goes directly to that charity. The restaurant covers any and all expenses. This year’s charity is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. On average we raise in excess of $10,000.00. This year’s event is very personal to me. My uncle who was most influential in my life passed away from complications from MS. So my hope is to exceed $45,000.00. I have come up with some ideas for fundraising.
 
Three main ways of raising money- they include:

1) In house events such as dinners and auctions. For every bottle of Millbrook Vineyards wine that sell Calico will donate $2.00. We have created a special dessert that $1.00 from each will also go to MS.
 
2) A “Golf Marathon”. I will be walking and playing as many holes of golf as possible from sun up until sun down. Trump National Hudson Valley, owned by Donald Trump has agreed to give me full course access for the entire day. People can financially sponsor me by the number of miles walked, number of birdies made, number of holes played and my Dr. has even agreed to pledge $5.00 per pound that I can lose during the training process. Taylor Made has agreed to supply an embroidered bag with the MS information on it and do whatever we need to help promote the event.
 
3) We have formulated an online auction, which will take place in July, with commitments from the following.

DAY 1- a one hour group lesson with Fred Griffin, director of the Golf Academy at Grand Cypress resort. Followed by an 18 hole round of gold on one of the Grand Cypress courses.
 
DAY 2- Bay Hill Lodge and Resort, owned by Arnold Palmer, has agreed to donate a tee time for a foursome. Charlie Rymer, on air personality at the Golf Channel and former PGA professional, has agreed to be the 4th person in that foursome.
 
The three individuals or group of three that bids the highest will win the auction.
