The Rhinebeck Central School District is forming a Parent/Community Focus Group on the information technology initiatives within RCSD.

Dear Parents and Community members

The Rhinebeck Central School District (RCSD) is undertaking a comprehensive audit of their information technology. The study incorporates a comprehensive analysis of the technology needs within RCSD.  There will be several data gathering events conducted throughout the needs analysis phase of the study.  The methodologies used to collect data during the needs analysis include site visits, interviews, focus groups, and surveys of parents, teachers, and students.  We are compiling a list of parents and community members who would like to participate in a focus group meeting that will be facilitated by the Center for Educational Leadership and Technology (CELT).

In general, focus groups are an opportunity for educators, students, and community members who share a similar “focus” to jointly express their views and opinions.  The use of focus groups enables participants to provide experiential information on past uses of technology, as well as providing a forum for participants to help shape the future direction of the District’s technology initiatives.  Information will be recorded by a team of CELT consultants.  Comments from individuals are strictly confidential.  Information will be reported from a total focus group perspective.

The Parent and Community focus group meeting will be held on Monday, October 22, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Chancellor Livingston Elementary School.

The views shared by participants and feedback provided during the focus group meetings are essential to the success of the study. The information gathering and support activities will enable the District to focus on key issues that need to be addressed by the study as well as establish priorities for the school district and community implementation.

If you are interested in participating in this focus group, please contactMarvin Kreps, Director of Curriculum and Instruction or at 845-871-5570 ext. 5545 on or beforeSunday, October 21

Additional information about the Technology Audit project and process is available in the attachment to this e-mail. We look forward to meeting with you and discussing the perspectives that you may have on this most critical and timely topic.
