NYSDOH – New York State Health Department
With increases in human cases of West Nile virus in New York State and throughout the country, State Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H. emphasizes the importance of New Yorkers taking personal protective measures to avoid mosquito bites. To greatly minimize exposure to West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), take smart precautions such as wearing shoes, socks, long pants and long-sleeved shirts when outdoors for long periods of time. It’s also important to apply appropriate mosquito repellent and remove all standing water from property.
