Rhinebeck High School Announces Valedictorian and Salutatorian
The faculty of Rhinebeck High School is proud to announce the Class of 2012 valedictorian and salutatorian.
Valedictorian Hannah Tobias, daughter of Dave and Martha Tobias of Rhinebeck, is an AP Scholar, and a recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, the Donald J. Closs Memorial Award, the PTSO French Award, and the Rhinebeck Respect Award. Ms. Tobias has been consistently listed on the High Honor Roll throughout her high school career, and was named Student of the Month six times.
Ms. Tobias is a musician, singer, dancer, and actor. She is a member of RHS’s Steel Drum Band, Percussion Ensemble, Women’s Choir, and Symphonic Band. She has participated in five RHS musicals since 2008, most recently as the lead in All Shook Up. She is a member of Solas an Lae, and has performed with the Vanaver Caravan and the Joel Hanna Dance Company. Ms. Tobias has served the school community as Senior Class Co-Vice President, Junior Class Co-President, and Rhinebeck After School Electives Instructor, and she was a member of the Varsity Tennis Team as a first year student. Ms. Tobias will attend Vassar College in the fall.
Salutatorian Nicholas Hatter, son of Jeff and Karen Hatter of Rhinebeck, is an AP Scholar, and a recipient of the 2011 Marist College Medal of Science and Health, a New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, and a commendation from the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program. Mr. Hatter is a member of the National Honor Society, he has earned placement on the High Honor Roll for each quarter of his career at RHS, and he has been named as a Scholar-Athlete by the Mid-Hudson Athletic League.
Mr. Hatter has been a member of the Varsity Tennis Team for six years, and for the past three years served as Captain of the team. He was also a member of the Varsity Soccer Team, and served as Captain during his senior year. Mr. Hatter is a certified soccer referee, and a certified Water Safety Instructor Lifeguard. He will be attending Cornell University in the fall.
