Young Rhinebeck’s Life, Learning, and Language program (LLL) promotes the academic success of a growing number of children in Rhinebeck’s schools whose families do not speak English as their first language. The program serves children at the Chancellor Livingston School and is designed to help them accurately and more consistently complete homework assignments, enhance their English language skills, and promote self-confidence, interpersonal relationships, and a sense of belonging to the school community. LLL has expanded to a summer reading/writing camp in order to help students maintain academic progress made during the school year. With a focus on maintaining progress, students may avoid the summer slide that often occurs when students do not have practice on skills learned in their previous grade. Summer slide is of particular concern for those who come from homes where there is limited English spoken. The summer program will run from July 10 – August 2 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12-3PM (12 sessions in total) at the Chancellor Livingston School.
We are looking for 3 teachers who can:
- Develop 12 sessions of structured lessons that will blend academic, social, and physical activities into a comprehensive program in a cooperative atmosphere working with the Program Coordinator.
- Maintain pupils’ reading level achieved during the previous school year.
- Provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for pupils.
Qualifications: Certified Teacher or recent graduate from a college of teaching.
Stipend for teachers upon the completion of the LLL Summer Camp provided by Young Rhinebeck.
