Time to Build this year’s Puppets for the Sinterklaas Starlight Parade!
The 2011 Sinterklaas Puppet Building Workshop will open to the public on Thursday, November 17th from 2pm – 7pm.
This year, it is being held at Ruge’s Subaru on the corner of Chestnut Street and Route 9 in the village of Rhinebeck. Lew and Charlotte Ruge and family are donating space to the workshop and we are very happy to be there – and very grateful to the Ruge family and staff at Ruge’s Subaru. The actual address is 6444 Montgomery Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572 for those who need to google directions.
In the Puppet Building Workshop, volunteers will work with Master Puppeteers Sophia Michahelles and Alex Kahn on a variety of projects to repair our old familiar puppets and to create new themed puppets around this year’s honored animal, the Crow! Sophia and Alex have traveled all over the world working with communities to build public art. They tell great stories about their adventures and the meaning of the work that is done. It is a wonderful place to meet new people, get in touch with your creative spirit and give a lovely gift to our community. No experience necessary, just a desire to join in, help out and have fun!
Community service hours available for high school students.
