“Labor for Your Neighbor” volunteer initiative launched
ALBANY – Governor Andrew Cuomo launched the “Labor for your Neighbor” initiative over Labor Day weekend for volunteers to pitch in for local cleanup efforts on public and private property impacted by last weekend’s hurricane.
Volunteers are sought to cleanup devastated areas in the Catskills, Schoharie Valley and North Country, said the governor.
“The cleanup here is the first order of business and that is just old fashioned elbow grease, that is just a bucket and a mop and a rag and a broom and a shovel, and a lot of labor, and volunteers could be very helpful in that,” he said.
Persons can sign up to volunteer their elbow grease or to make a donation at www.governor.ny.gov/laborforyourneighbor.
Cuomo said he will be visiting cleanup sites on Sunday and Monday to lend a hand and show his continued support to those in need.
