Sō Percussion, The Bard College Conservatory of Music’s new faculty percussion ensemble, takes the stage on Sunday, September 18 at 3 pm. An “experimental powerhouse” (Village Voice) and “consistently impressive” (New York Times), Sō Percussion makes rare and wonderful music that both compels instantly and offers rewards for engaged listening. The Sunday matinee program includes selections from Imaginary City (2009), by Sō Percussion; selections from Amid the Noise (2006), by Jason Treuting (b. 1977); Child of Tree (1975) and Third Construction (1941), by John Cage (1912–92); and neither Anvil nor Pulley (2009–10), a piece composed for Sō Percussion by Dan Trueman that explores the relationship between time and machine in the digital age. Cosponsored by The John Cage Trust at Bard College
