Airplane forced to land in field

RHINEBECK — The Federal Aviation Adminstration is investigating the unplanned landing Saturday afternoon of a small plane in the field across Route 9 from Stop & Shop supermarket.

The 77-year old pilot, Jay Castle of Briarcliff Manor, Westchester County, was not injured and the plane was not damaged, Lt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said.
