BULKELEY MIDDLE SCHOOL HOSTS TOP CHEF: BMS

The Bulkeley Middle School Building Level Planning Team is pleased to announce the 2nd annual BMS Top Chef competition.  Like the television program, the competition features aspiring chefs who compete for their shot at culinary stardom and the chance to earn the prestigious title of Bulkeley Middle School’s TOP CHEF!

The competition will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011, the Rhinebeck Central School’s Bulkeley Middle School from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the BMS gymnasium.

Entries will be submitted and compete in one of three categories; main dish/entrée, side dish, or dessert.

Celebrity judges will include guest chefs from Terrapin, Garden Street Cafe, Gigi’s, and Calico restaurants in Rhinebeck, and Taste Budds in Red Hook, as well as parents, and faculty members.

The purpose of this activity is to encourage healthy choices, balanced nutrition, serving size awareness, and label reading; to bridge students with members of the local culinary community and; to develop a sense of team work, bonding and community amongst students with a similar interest.

In addition to prizes being awarded in each category, winning entries will be submitted to the RCSD Director of Food Services to be considered for addition to the menu offerings in the school cafeteria.

Questions about the day should be directed to John Kemnitzer, Bulkeley Middle School Principal, at (845) 871-5500 ext. 5588.
